Sayvo
A voice that asks less of the body.
Research concept — not a medical device and not currently available
Discuss a research partnershipWho it’s for
People living with limited speech or movement, and the families, carers and clinicians alongside them. Sayvo is a research project shaped with those groups rather than designed at a distance from them.
What we're exploring
- 01Sayvo explores how established and emerging access methods—including switches, eye-gaze systems and, where independently validated, future neural interfaces—could reduce the effort required to communicate.
- 02It studies how immediate needs — comfort, pain, yes/no, urgency — could be reached in fewer steps than general-purpose text entry allows.
- 03It looks at how a message can stay legible to whoever is in the room, not only to specialists.
What exists today
Sayvo is currently a product and interaction research project. It is not a clinical product, diagnostic tool or replacement for an AAC assessment.
Research principles
- Designed with users, not merely for them
- Compatible thinking rather than a closed replacement system
- Immediate needs prioritised
- Privacy and consent by default
- No unsupported medical or performance claims
